Once upon a time in the bustling heart of Bethnal Green, East London, a man named Jack Ratzker had a vision. It wasn’t to build a palace or discover a new continent, but something far more practical—he wanted to make the world a cleaner place, one rag at a time. So, in 1920, armed with little more than determination and a keen eye for quality textiles, Jack set up shop on a little street in Bethnal Green. And so, Coppermill Ltd was born.

Fast forward 100 years, and the humble business that started with Jack is still thriving—still family-run, and still on that very same street. Now, Jack’s son Stephen and grandson Marc are the proud torchbearers of the Ratzker legacy. The family has been in the rag trade for three generations, but let’s be honest—they're not just in the rag trade, they’re royalty! (Well, sort of.) Since 1984, Coppermill Ltd has held the Royal Warrant to supply cleaning wipers to none other than Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II herself. We like to think of it as our rags being fit for a queen—literally.
